J. Gary Lawrence -

James Gary Lawrence is a global expert in sustainability, urban planning, resilience and project development with a prestigious career spanning more than two decades. Prior to joining EnviroDynamix, Gary held the position of VP and Chief Sustainability Officer at AECOM for over five year, following a position as the urban planning and strategies leader at Arup.


His impressive career also include a position as planning director for the City of Seattle, where he led development of one of the world’s first comprehensive plan dedicated to sustainability, serving as advisor to U.S. President Clinton’s Administration Council on Sustainable Development, the U.S. government at the United Nation's Habitat II, the U.S. Agency for International Development, the Brazilian President's Office, the British Prime Minister's Office, the European Academy for the Urban Environment in Berlin and the Organization for Economic and Community Development in Paris on matters of sustainable development, economics and environmental policy.


In addition to Gary’s extensive professional experience his credentials include a Master’s in Public Administration, advisory positions across a number of industry organizations and a faculty position with the University of Washington’s College of Architecture and Urban Planning. Gary has authored several groundbreaking articles and is a respected expert speaker who was also named Sustainability Leader of the Year by the World Sustainability Congress in 2015.
